Who is Addison?
I love working for Chico because I'm a product of Chico. I learned to swim in the creeks, biked to school through different neighborhoods, and have spent my whole life gathering with my parents, grandparents, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, and now nieces and nephews spread throughout every corner of the city.
Growing up and still today, I'm a renter. I have lived in every City Council district except District 5. For the last seven years, I have lived in the West Avenues, where I moved from an apartment on Sheridan Avenue.
My sense of what makes a city beautiful is drawn from the best aspects of the places in Chico I know. But in my early adult life, I lived in many other places across North America, from Montreal to Mexico City. I volunteered and worked alongside community organizing projects, learning about different aspects of urban governance and what makes the good places in American cities so good.
I liked the way my life was going, but when the Camp Fire happened, my perspective on myself and my hometown shifted. I have always been, and will always be, proud to come from Chico, but I thought the most important work for me lay elsewhere. In 2019, I came back to Chico, got a job in property maintenance and construction, and co-organized a renters' rights campaign.
Over the next few years, I worked for Chico Housing Action Team (fixing houses), True North Housing Alliance and Safe Space Winter Shelter (street outreach and shelter), and Butte Environmental Council (consulting on housing policy).
In 2022, District 4 was set to elect our first representative. I ran with a big awesome team, and we won.
On the City Council, I have kept property maintenance side-gigs. In May 2026, I completed my bachelor's degree in Geography from Chico State, earned a minor in Economics, and was awarded the Outstanding Land Use and Planning Award. I regularly plan and speak at events and commentate on Chico matters on social media, TV, radio, and in print media.
My name is Addison Winslow.
It is my honor to be your District 4 representative.
This year, I'm asking for your support to continue the work I've been doing for Chico for another term.
